Emir fired a few shots off at the humanoids corpse. "Just in case" he announced to no one in particular. He looked at his teammates. "Well, looks like we're a group now." He said to Umar and Quinn, while hiding a look of displeasure at being paired with a Tisian.

The guns went off, and the abomination of man lay still, it's corpse smoking. Emir felt a presence in his mind, as he was the closest to the stone monolith, it was like the book was calling out to him. He only needed the book anyways, not that anyone here cared about him. The book did... The fog began to clear, and before them, upon a mountain of corpses forever stuck in agony, a citadel of black stone loomed before them, several monoliths positioned around the citadel. Laughter emanated from the citadel, and around them, several more forms appeared from the smoke, abominations, lesser demons, they laughed, laughing at the new blood. Quinn felt a strange presence, as if a shadow passed over his mind. A silence in his mind arrived, he felt a sense of peace as he heared the singing of a beautiful lady accompanied by a violin, coming from a direction... Quinn wanted to run off and join the happy woman, and dance to the tunes of the violin...

Swoznick nodded to Daniel: "Good job, soldier. Reassemble." Then he turned to the corpse and approached it carefully, always ready to pull the trigger. Having reached it, he opened his MediKit and pulled pipette, test tubes and a beautiful, precious thing. It was a small, yet very powerful computer he couldn't fully understand, but it was supposedly able to compare his blood sample to the one of the demon and find the parasites, viruses or bacteria, even genetical cross-over catalysts that could be responsible for his issues.
"Now, what do we have here?" He muttered as he inserted both tubes - one full of thick bright red blood, the other filled with something between washy mood and slowly-moving smoke - into the metal box. "Show me a way to survive."

looking at the giant pile of corpses with nothing more than curiosity, Daniel took a deep breath. the air tasted of iron. he hated it. but it was still better than being surrounded by the overpowering smell of gun-smoke and the sweat of the people making the gun smoke. a deep breath to his right told him Krista agreed with him. "I wonder if all of the air in the demon realm smells like this?" Krista glanced at him. "I certainty hope not, I have a feeling my lungs won't feel free for a long time." "Want to take a scouting trip to survey the surrounding area?" "I'm down. I wonder if there is any life hear besides the obvious demons." Daniel called over his shoulder. "We're going to take a look at the area. we'll be back in about an hour." he and Krista turned right and started their trip.

Umar looked at Emir, obviously annoyed "How fucking stupid are you? Did they teach you to just waste ammunition in your nation? We don't have any ability to return, but yet you felt it necessary to fire bullets unnecessarily into that corpse" Umar said, condescendingly. He then looked at the pile of bodies relatively unphased, and walked near it. "Anybody have the slightest idea as to why there is a giant pile of bodies?"

"So beautiful" quinn mumbled starting to hum in tune with the music, unconsciously drifting towards the music in a waltz like pattern, moving his blade hand in a conductor like tempo "pure elegance and joy"

Matui watched the two men argue as the couple left. He came closer to Swoznick, watching him fiddle with a vintage device. Several minutes past and Matui, now relaxed, started walking around, observing the valley, looking for a place to hide in case something worse than a twitching humanoid shows up, or to stay somewhere for a night - if there is a night in this place. When he looked up, where the sky was supposed to be, there was nothing, only a dirty white...nothing, yet it still felt as if he as in an impossibly big building, rather than under an open sky. When he looked down, he saw what startled him even more than demons.
Quinn was dancing. Literally. Under the dirty sky-ceiling, in the demon world, he was dancing, eyes turned upwards, mouth slightly open with a string of saliva hanging down from it, moving from side to side while humming some unknown melody. Matui observed him for a second. "Hey, what are you doing?" he shouted, prompting the two men to shut up and look behind them. Quinn ignored him, still dancing, waving his sword around him, completely oblivious to the world around him. Matui came closer, avoiding the buzzing blade. "Snap out of it!" he shouted right into his face. Quinn stopped, and turned his head towards Matui, his face now twisting a little, as if he was trying to smile and frown at the same time. "Slap him!" came from behind. Matui hesitated and then struck Quinn's face. Quinn spun and tripped, almost falling to the ground. When he opened his eyes, he looked confused at the men in front of him.
"What on earth are you doing? You were supposed to be on a lookout, not rehearsing your ballet recital!" said Matui. Quinn opened his mouth to defend himself, however, he was cut off as a giant building standing on a mountain of bodies materialized in the fog.

Emir slowly started walking towards the monolith muttering something about a book. He didn't need anyone else. Swoznick was a tool, Daniel and Krista were idiotic, uncivilized children, Umar was a probably a terrorist, Quinn was probably a drug addict, and Matui was a freak. The book, on the other hand, was everything he needed. The book cared about him.

Swoznick knelt down for what seemed like centuries. The passage of time was not set in stone, and sometimes, it felt like minutes had passed, or sometimes years. Swoznick looked at the computer screen, uttering his command. It was unfortunate the demon had found itself a new body. A mechanical one. Thanks to the foolish human removing it's essence before it reformed and placing it inside a machine it can infest. It kept it's presence a secret, but it couldn't help but play with the humans. On the screen appeared several characters, detailing the cure method for his problem. A small amount of demon ash, sulfur, poisonous gasses trapped from a vent, and the heart of a demon lord.
The fog took Daniel and Krista, leaving behind the party. They set off on their own direction, while behind them, a man was dancing, and some other man was leaning over something. It didn't matter, scouting was what they must do. If only they could see where they were going. They made a turn or so, to make their way back to the party. It was to their horror, they realized the landscaped changed around them, and so they were in god knows where...
Umar walked up to the corpse pile, staring at one particular corpse. He was unfazed, but what unsettled him was the slight movement of the dry withered corpses. Their blackened skin stretched over their skull, stuck forever in a face of agony. Their bony hands reached out to touch Umar, and things turned for the worse. With unnatural strength, the hands had grabbed Umar, grabbing several parts of his body. They began to drag him into the palace of laughter, where the demons of lust await
Quinn laid on the ground. For how many seconds did he enjoy dancing? Now this alien decided to ruin the fun. He should die. Who say they can't have fun? Was Matui the fun police now? No, if Quinn wanted to dance in the fires of hell to the music of a demon, so be it, for it was the best experience of his life. Rage, thats what he felt, and the little voice in his head made him feel good. The voice in his head was reasonable. Bully. That was what Matui is. And what do you do with bullies? You kill them. Kill them all and let their blood stain the earth
Matui stared in amazement at the fog. What amazed him more was Umar doing a funny little struggle near the mountain of corpses. Umar started to merge into the mountain though. What the hell? High pitched laughter cut his train of thought. A laughter of happiness, a carefree person having the time of their lives. All coming from a palace? What?
Emir approached the spire with the book, and nobody noticed. Probably because they didn't care. The book opened itself, revealing it's contents to Emir. Why, of course, the book welcomed Emir, like a friend. As he scooped up the book, it spoke to him through the mummified face on the cover. The book fueled Emir's thoughts, offering a new perspective on life. Powers, powers beyond his imagination. An entire history of a world he never knew about. So much knowledge that could change the world, all in his hands. What could he do? Help his country? Destroy TISI once and for all? All these opportunities. But first, he must find a way home, or he can't change anything at all. That Umar fellow will probably get in the way though. But Umar can't do anything if he is dead...

Swoznick raised his eyebrow. He knew that the computer was a flipping bundle of tech, however, he didn't expect it to literally tell him what treatment he needs. He thought it would only offer diagnostics to an extent. "Still, good for me," he thought, when he heard a sudden weird, soughing sound.
He turned his head and spotted Quinn, about thirty paces away in the shallow valley, ripping Matui's gut wide open using a plasma blade. Bloody hell. Calmly yet decesively, his hand reached for the massive gun at his side, carefully aimed and shot Quinn to the head from behind right where he was standing.

Matui felt a dull feeling in his gut, as the ape plunged it's sparkler toy sword into his body. For a second, he lost all his senses, he didn't even feel the ground hit him. His vision became clouded - or was it the fog getting thicker? The time seemed to stop as he slowly descended into shock. He felt cold and hot, petrified and relaxed, euphoric and sad. And then the pain came. A numbing feeling, spreading in waves throughout his body. He opened his eyes and saw Swoznick aiming his gun at Quinn. "Well. At least I'm not dead yet" he thought to himself, strangely calm. He pulled out his gun, his muscles jerking and spasming and aimed at Quinn. Bam. Bam. Quinn spun around as two alien and one Swoznick's bullets impacted with full force. Bam. Bam. Bam. First didn't cause much trouble, lodging itself somewhere in his arm muscle. Second popped his eye and sent his head flying backwards. Third went through a side of his neck, opening a wound from which a stream of blood flowed down Quinn's armor. "How do you feel now, you stuttering primitive blabbermonkey?" thought Matui. He would say it out loud, but the blood was filling his windpipe and lungs, causing another round of convulsions.
He turned his head around and saw someone running. "Is that Emir?" he thought. He would think more, but the laugh was filling his head now, vibrating in his every vein - well, except legs, he couldn't feel them now. "It's fine", he said to himself. "I never needed legs anyway." He started falling and voices filled his head.
What does it matter now?

Umar let out a scream as the hands grabbed him. He tried to fight, but to no avail. He waited to retaliate as the hands dragged him to the palace. The voices soon installed fear into him. 'Why are they laughing? They're laughing at me! Oh god why are they laughing at me!' He yelled aloud, preparing himself for a fight

Emir, Emir, come here. Emir didn't feel in control anymore. But he liked it. He liked the sense of security as the demons clouded his vision. Emir, Emir, do not stop. It all seemed natural, didn't it? For man to serve a higher power? Emir was just a dumb beast, like a cow. It was only right he listened. He knelt down and opened the book. Why, it's written in at least 70 different languages, or was it one? Who knows, who cares. He can't read it, but the ink moved like a serpent, moving, slithering across the dry cracked pages. He can read it, and so he read. It all made sense. Humanity was but a pawn in the game of existence. An expendable pawn. It was right, it was natural. Emir accepted this fact. How can the pawn help his king? By spreading the news of course. Spread the truth to all. Umar was an obstacle, and he must die. Emir turned the page. Why is his vision getting dark? As he read, his sanity unraveled, and his humanity left him. Emir was a husk, an empty shell. Reading the wrong pages can really turn the screws in one's head. Literally. His head turned to face his party, but now before a bullet slammed into his right eye, shredding his brain. Useless pawn.
Swoznick fired some shots. Swoznick, you silly child. He watched as the bullets hit Quinn's helmet which he had been wearing, and the bullets ricocheted off, hitting Emir in the head. The next bullet lodged itself in Quinn's helmet, causing Quinn to fall over, bruised in the head. And did he not pay attention to his surroundings? Of course he didn't, because there was a demon of lust right behind him. The shapes, the shapes that he ignored, why did he ignore them? Why? And now he will pay the price. Swoznick felt a sense of happiness, happy thoughts. It will all be over soon. The demon of lust spoke to him. Comforting him. It's just a nightmare. The cure is just in his heart, and the demon was the key to it. It can all end here, with just a simple answer. Yes or No?
Matui sat there. Raising him gun up, he fired. He hit Quinn, that's for sure. The first shot made his arm jerk wildly. The bullet hit Quinn, lodging itself in the joint of Quinn's armor, sending a burst of pain in Quinn as he fell forward from the impact of Swoznick's bullet. Matui lay there, thinking. He wished he didn't have to die alone. Why is his map flashing? Oh, they're at the exit point? Woop de doo. They don't have a bomb, so they might as well go home. Everything is numb. It hurts. He could use his mobile portal to go to the station so he can die in the material realm. Or lay there and stare at the hazy sky, or was it a ceiling? Matui, Matui, why did you choose to help these apes? Look at the pain they brought you, so easily over come by demonic temptations.
Quinn was face down. A massive bump on the back of his head with bleeding. Probably some bones broken. Thank god for armor. He felt a spike of pain in his right arm. But why doesn't it hurt? Is it not pain? He felt a warm fuzzy feeling. Pleasure. He felt pleasure in getting hurt. The sweet violin tunes called for him, as he felt happiness in being hurt. The palace of pleasure awaits for Quinn, and a sensation beyond his wildest dreams. Or was he hallucinating, because off in the corner of his eye, he saw a grassy field, contrasting with the hellish landscape. Why is there a grassy field? Run and play in the field, or take a visit to the palace of pleasure. Everything seems so bright. so good.
Krista and Daniel ran, running. They been running in circles, or have they ran for thousands of miles? The ground undulated like a living beast. A nightmare. They didn't feel tired at all, as if they only ran 10 feet. The hills seemed to curve towards the ceiling. There was no up or down. The fog parted to reveal a flight of stairs, eternal darkness below. They couldn't think clearly. They don't knows why, but at least a familiar structure calmed them down. Might as well go down the stairs...

"no...no more, NO MORE EXPERIMENTS WE ARE NOT PAWNS!"he wailed before curling into a ball crying "no.....please....not again i cant loose them again" peace and happiness seemed only to remind him of what he didn't have only making him retreat into his painful past
